Why doesn't a Biozone® air purifier need a filter?

There are several reasons for this. With the technology that we use, our units are capable of removing particles and contaminates down to .01 microns! To put this in perspective, a HEPA filter only removes particles down to .05 microns, and if the filter is not perfectly sealed in gel, many contaminates leak past the filter anyway. 

How can it work then?

The air that passes through Biozone® air purifiers is exposed to high intensity Ultraviolet light, this exposure destroys contaminates, germs, viruses, fumes, bacteria, spores and more. Our units don't stop there, the photo reaction with the air (which works much like the sun) creates a plasma of Photocatalytic Ions, hydroxyls (OH) and O3. This plasma comes out of the unit and into your air, where it efficiently seeks out and destroys contaminates.

So, is it like an air ionizer or ionic air cleaner?

Well, yes and no. The Photocatalytic Ions produced by our air purifiers are combined with two other powerful air cleaning agents. The photo ionization process is very stable, thanks to our SafeVolt technology which delivers constant and steady power to the UV bulb. The regulation of power to the bulb results in the precise levels of production of ions.

Traditional negative ionizers, which use needle point ionization, blast high concentrations of ions. Some recent units boast some type of gadget or sensor to try and regulate the total production of ions, or to collect excess ions, but these gadgets are known to fail, and even when they work, higher concentrations are still blasted. There are many negative effects associated with traditional ionic air cleaners, and many simply do not work at all.

What size are they, how much space do they require?

Biozone® air purifiers are very compact, most household units take up about the slightly more space than a standard toaster. We recommend placing the units up high, preferably on a shelf or cabinet in an area with decent air circulation. Most units have a semi-circle shaped footprint and are only 4-6 inches thick, even a small shelf or space is all that is needed.

Are Biozone® air purifiers quiet?

Biozone® air purifiers make about the same amount of noise as the average computer fan, much less than a micro-wave or air conditioner, and slightly more than a toaster. Our air purifiers use a very quiet 3 speed fan, similar to a computer fan, this pulls enough air through the air purification chamber at a rate that creates optimum levels of purifying plasma. 

If sound level is an issue, select a slightly more powerful air purifier and run it at a lower speed. On low speed our air purifiers are so quiet you would have to lean down and stick your ear within inches to even be able to hear the whisper fan running, and even then, most of the sound would be the slight whoosh of air passing through the air purifier.

Are they energy efficient?
